You will work in one of FIRST RF's five technologies divisions to investigate customer needs, design prototypes, and build products that require both creativity and attention to detail. These cutting-edge technologies include phased-array systems, millimeter wave active antennas, and advanced signal detection technologies designed for both government and commercial customers.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and photocopiers.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week.  Typical office hours include Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, however these hours will vary based on workload and the manager’s discretion.  This job may require more than 40 hours of work per week as the need arises.


No travel is expected for this position.


  • Must have US Citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's Degree a plus)
  • Proficient with mechanical CAD tools (Solidworks a plus)
  • An exposure to simulation and analysis tools (Thermal a plus)
  • Knowledge of drafting standards and techniques
  • A basic understanding of material properties
  • A desire to find, explore, and solve new and challenging problems
  • Experience with programming a plus
  • Comfortable in a lab environment
  • A resiliency to fail fast and often
